Dear Hoopla Participant,
Thank you for registering to play in the Oregon National Guard Hoopla, Oregon’s largest 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. This letter is to confirm that we have received your registration and we look forward to having your team involved in what promises to be the best Hoopla yet.
Following is some information that will be helpful in making your weekend an enjoyable experience:
Playing on Multiple Teams?
Players who signed up for multiple teams must send an e-mail to junruh@onghoopla.com indicating player name, team names and divisions registered by Friday, July 17th at Midnight. This will allow our scheduling committee to do our best to make sure that the affected players do not have conflicting game times on Saturday. We cannot control what happens on Sunday during bracket play. This e-mail is the only way we will know of players playing on multiple teams.
Check-In and Schedules
The Team Check-In / Tournament Information Tent will be located across from the Oregon State Capitol Building. One representative from your team is required to check-in prior to your first game at one of the following times: Friday August 7th from 12:00 – 7:00pm and Saturday, August 8th beginning at 6:30am.
At check-in you will receive your registration packet, which will include promotional items and t-shirts. Game schedules will be available upon request. Game schedules also will be posted on our website, www.onghoopla.com, no later than Wednesday evening, August 5th.
Sunday Games
All teams advance to play on Sunday. You are responsible for knowing the correct time that your team is scheduled to play. Our website, www.onghoopla.com, will be completely updated by 9:00pm Saturday evening and you can find your Sunday schedule there. If you have questions, please consult with any Hoopla Official at the Tournament Information Tent for guidance as to what time you will play on Sunday.
Adding or Changing a Player
Player additions or changes must be done before the beginning of your first game on Saturday and can be done at the Tournament Information Tent. Changing a player due to injury may be done during the weekend (only if an injury drops your team below 3 players). To do so requires a note from the Hoopla Athletic Trainer indicating that the injured player may no longer participate and it also requires approval from a Hoopla Tournament Official. This can be done at the Tournament Information Tent.
If a team is known to be using an illegal player, the entire team will be immediately disqualified from the tournament without any refund of your registration fee.
6’ & Under Division and 6’ 2” & Under Division
All players participating in the 6’ & Under Division and 6’ 2” & Under Division must be measured and put on their wristband before the team’s first game will begin. Any player that does not pass the height test will be disqualified from participating in this division. If a team is known to be using an illegal player, the entire team will be immediately disqualified from the tournament. The wristband for the division must be worn throughout the entire weekend to be eligible to play.
Winning Team’s Signatures
The winning team will be required to sign the official score sheet at the conclusion of each game. Please make sure the score and team name are correct before doing so. This will help insure that Hoopla has a correct score for each game and that Tournament Officials can correctly update game results.
Game Rules
A complete listing of all our game rules can be found on our website. A copy of the rules will also be available to your team when you check in.
Basket Height and Ball Size
The basket height for divisions consisting of ages 8 years old and under will be roughly 8 ½ feet high. All other divisions will be played on 10-foot high baskets. Male divisions 11 and under and all female divisions will use a size 28.5 basketball.
Parking
The Capitol Mall Underground Parking Structure will be available to you, at no charge, throughout the weekend. It is located just north of the State Capitol Building on Chemeketa Street between Court Street and Center Street. Hours for the parking structure are Friday 5:00pm – Midnight, Saturday 6:00am – Midnight, Sunday 6:00am-9:00pm.
